Drift & Tone exists as a resource for musicians interested in ambient music, sound exploration, and slow, intentional creation.
I’m an experimental musician and builder who has spent years exploring sound both digitally and physically. My background includes building and modifying instruments such as a norns shield, a homemade tambura, cigar box guitars, homemade piezo mics and various modified and circuit-bent synthesizers and electronic devices. Much of my work has lived somewhere between traditional instruments, electronics, and improvised sound tools.
Like many people drawn to ambient music, I didn’t start with a clear roadmap. The genre pulls in musicians from many backgrounds—guitarists, producers, modular enthusiasts, DIY builders, and people simply curious about sound. Finding good information, tools, and inspiration can feel overwhelming or overly commercial.
Drift & Tone is my attempt to help reduce that friction.
This site is meant to be a starting point and reference library for people interested in playing and creating ambient music—whether you’re working entirely in software, building instruments by hand, or mixing both approaches. The focus is on resources, context, and exploration, not trends or hype.

The goal is to present useful information honestly, not to push products.
Open to the Community
Drift & Tone is intentionally open-ended. This is a living resource, shaped by curiosity and experimentation. Suggestions, corrections, and recommendations from other musicians are always welcome.
If something feels missing—or if you’re building or using tools you think others would benefit from—reach out.
Ambient music thrives on shared knowledge, slow listening, and imperfect systems. This site exists to support that spirit.
